Beo in San Fran

  • Old St. Mary's Cathedral 660 California Street San Francisco, CA, 94108 United States (map)

In this short, noontime concert Beo will make its San Francisco debut. Featured will be the music of two contemporary composers: Marc Mellits and Missy Mazzoli. Opening the program will be Enthusiasm Strategies, a work composed by Missy Mazzoli in 2019, which erupts in a flutter of harmonics that slowly evolves into a chorale at the end of the piece, which then ultimately dissipates into nothing. Mellits’ 5th string quartet, titled Waniyetu, is a collection of seven miniature movements that have to do with various characteristics of winter. Closing the program will be Beethoven’s incredible masterpiece, String Quartet No. 1 in F Major, op.18 No. 1.
