Bach will open this exciting program in Healdsburg, CA. Two superstar contemporary composers and friends of Beo will be included, as well. Enthusiasm Strategies, a work composed by Mazzoli in 2019, erupts in a flutter of harmonics that slowly evolves into a chorale at the end of the piece, which then dissipates into nothing. Mellits’ 5th string quartet, titled Waniyetu, is a collection of seven miniature movements that have to do with various characteristics of winter. You will also hear Shostakovich’s semi-autobiographical and incredibly moving String Quartet No.8 in C minor, op.110 and one of Beethoven’s undeniable masterpieces, String Quartet No. 1 in F Major, op.18 No. 1.
