Each year, we host a competition for composers *over* the age of 35 in partnership with the Charlotte New Music Festival.
We routinely get more than a hundred submissions from dedicated, passionate individuals with something to say and the experience to shape it into something really effective.
Kerrith Livengood is our 2018 winner and her piece--This is my Scary Robot Voice-- tells a deeply personal, psychological, and ultimately cathartic story. We've taken this work on tour, recorded it, and really lived with the piece for two years. We wanted to take it a step further.
We're announcing a premiere!
A live concert has immediacy and energy, but it's limited. It's temporary. You have to be there, or you don't get it. Could we produce a recorded concert experience that replicates what you see as you listen with your eyes half-closed, letting your mind fly in full fantasy?
